There were about 50 of the most outstanding lanterns chosen to participate in the 2nd Annual Lantern Festival in Hoi An which lures thousands of visitors daily.
The lanterns are built in large sizes and set out to shine over the Hoai River Square. The smallest lantern is 1m x 1m.
The works are made by famous masters in Hoi An and other amateur organisations in order to honour this extraordinary tourism product of Hoi An. The themes focus on tigers (the sacred animal of 2010), Cau Pagoda (a symbol for Hoi An's ancient street), wooden horse carousel, fish lanterns, rose lanterns and more.
Visitors and local people in Hoi An are in awe with the magnificent lanterns. Once again, Hoi An can celebrate the success of its new tourism product with this annual event that will be held every Tet.
The festival will close on February 27 when the most beautiful and outstanding lanterns will be announced.
