Nguyen Phu Trong elected Party General Secretary

Mr. Nguyen Phu Trong was elected General Secretary of the Party Central Committee XI. 5 he was elected to the Politburo, including: Ngo Van Du, Dinh The Huynh, Tong Thi Phong, Tran Dai Quang, Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

11th Party Central Committee announced
The list of 175 official members out of 218 candidates of the 11th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam was made public at 10 am, January 18. The nine members of the 10th Politburo was re-elected.

The 11th Politburo members include (in alphabet): Minister of Public Security Le Hong Anh, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, HCM City Party Secretary Le Thanh Hai, Deputy PM Nguyen Sinh Hung, Hanoi Party Secretary Pham Quang Nghi, Chief of the Central Information and Education Committee To Huy Rua, Permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Truong Tan Sang, Minister of Defense Phuong Quang Thanh, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong.

Two Deputy Prime Ministers – Hoang Trung Hai and Nguyen Thien  Nhan – and 11 ministers out of 21 ministers and 20 deputy ministers were elected to the 11th Party Central Committee.

Of the 175 official members of the Party Central Committee, the Ministry of Defense accounts for the highest number – 19, followed by the Ministry of Public Security – 8, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs – 3. Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem is not in the list.

Nguyen Xuan Kien, the only self-running candidate was not elected.

Party Chief Nong Duc Manh, 71, and President Nguyen Minh Triet, 69, didn’t participate in the 11th Party Central Committee.

Twenty-five alternate members were also elected from 64 candidates.

Today, January 18, the 11th Party Central Committee will elect the Party Secretary General from nine politburo members. The 11th Party Chief will introduce himself to the Congress and preside over an international press conference on January 19.

The 11 ministers who were elected to the Party Central Committee include:

Opening the closing session, Mr. Dinh The Huynh read the letter of congratulations of friends to send international congress. Up to date 14 / 1, 158th Congress received congratulations from all parties, international organizations ... In those days the General Assembly 18 continues to receive congratulations. Thus, to the end of the day on 18 / 1, 176th Congress receive the congratulations of the party, other international organizations. 

On behalf of Group Chairman, President Nguyen Minh Triet expressed his feelings respectfully parties, international organizations ... President affirmed that the Communist Party of Vietnam is willing to expand relations with the Communist Party, the leftist parties, other parties, international organizations....
Next Congress to hear the result of voting on some issues in the documents of the Congress by Mr. Dinh The Huynh presented. 

Accordingly, the draft platform, the majority opinion agreed with the platform is called "Platform for building the country during the period of transition to socialism in 2011 additional development."
On socialist economic characteristics, the majority opinion agreed with the definition, "a highly developed economy based on modern productive forces with the relations of production appropriate progress." 

Next, Mr. Dinh The Huynh informed of the results of consultation on the issues of amending the Charter Party. In the charter there are some new features such as the General Secretary as the Secretary of the Central Military Commission. The Secretary is also secretary of the local Military Commission of the same level. The names of the Central Military Party Committee, the General Assembly unanimously called the Central Military Commission ... 

On behalf of the Secretariat of the session, Mr. Ta Ngoc Tan presented the full draft Charter amendment before the Party Congress vote to pass. Congress continued to acknowledge the comments directly with the draft Charter Party. Next, the Party charter amendment was passed with 100% of participants endorsed.

Nguyễn Phú Trọng, Secretary General of the Communist Party


Nguyễn Phú Trọng (born April 14, 1944, in Hanoi, Vietnam) is the Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam. He was confirmed by the National Assembly on June 26, 2006, with 84.58% of votes in favor. He is also one of 14 current members of the Communist Party of Vietnam's Politburo.


Biography

Mr. Nguyễn Phú Trọng was born on April 14, 1944 in Đông Hội Commune, Đông Anh District, Ha Noi. He studied philology at the University of Ha Noi from 1963 to 1967. He worked for the Tạp chí Cộng Sản (Communist Review), the theoretical and political agency of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (formerly Lao Động Party), in the periods of 1967-1973, 1976-1980, and 1983-1996. From 1991 to 1996, he served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Tạp chí Cộng Sản. Mr. Trọng officially joined the Communist Party in December 1968. Mr. Trọng went to the USSR in 1981 to study at the USSR Academy of Social Sciences and got the Kandidat nauk degree in history in 1983. Mr. Trọng has been member of the Party's Central Committee since January 1994, member of the Party's Political Bureau since December 1997, and deputy to the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam since May 2002. From January 2000 to June 2006, Mr. Trọng served as the Secretary of the Party's Executive Committee of Ha Noi, the de facto head of the city authority. On June 26, 2006, Mr. Trọng was elected as the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.
